The Golden Girls was one of the greatest sitcoms of the 1980's. The show continues to find a new fanbase in syndication and streaming services like Hulu. One of the greatest assets to the comedy was Betty White in the role of dim-witted Rose Nylund. Here is a look at our five favorite moments featuring the greatest woman to come out of St. Olaf.
The Man Killer
Rose has found love with Arnie (who is played by the same actor the took on the role of Miles). She is reluctant to go to the next step of their relationship with him since Charlie died while the two were having sex. In the end, she does sleep with Arnie and spoiler alert: he doesn't die. Afterwards, she decides to have a little fun with the girls when she tells them what happened.
Dancing Queen
The girls decide to enter a dance competition for charity. Rose takes this opportunity to tell one of her classic St. Olaf stories and Dorothy then calls for a judge to disqualify her for trying to put everyone to sleep. Then each one of them shows off their dance skills with Rose wowing the crowd with her bends and flips.
Rose sure does like to dance on The Golden Girls. In this instance, Blanche wants to prove to Rose that she can be just as sexy when she is dancing. She grabs her and the two perform a dirty dancing sequence right in the living room. At the end, they get pleasantly surprised by Sophia and Dorothy.
Song Writers
Rose and Dorothy decide to enter a contest to write Miami's theme song. The episode features several funny Rose moments including her literally tickling the ivories, using the word intrauterine in the song, and the moment at the end of the episode when the whole gang belts out the final product. Thought they didn't win, we can all admit it was a catchy tune.
Don't Steal My Teddy
The girls decide to go through their belongings and give away a few things for a rummage sale. On accident, Blanche gives away Rose's teddy bear Fernando to a young girl. When she tries to get it back, the girl holds it for ransom and send his ear in the mail to prove she isn't joking around. In the end, Rose steals it back and teaches her a great life lesson.
