UPDATE - Body Found Glee: Actress Naya Rivera Missing

Updated: Jul 13, 2020

Update: As we reported last week, actress Naya Rivera was missing in the lake she was boating on with her young son. Just minutes ago the Ventura County Sheriff's office announced that a body has been found in that same lake.

There will be a press conference held at 2 PM PT to discuss more information. At this time, the body has not been identified. Police were able to pinpoint the search on the lake after recovering a photo sent to family members that showed Rivera's son with a cover behind him. The photo was taken approximately 90 minutes before the boy was located.

Another tragedy has occurred tied to the beloved FOX series "Glee". Actress Naya Rivera, who played the snarky Santana Lopez, has been reported missing from a lake in Southern California while she was with her young son.

Rivera rented a boat Wednesday afternoon to venture out on Lake Piru, which is located about 50 miles from Los Angeles. Three hours later, the vessel was discovered by another boater drifting with the young child asleep on board. There was no sign of the actress. Authorities were soon notified and began searching with the assistance of a dive team and airplane.

Police did try to question Rivera's son, who mentioned the two went swimming but his mother did not get back on the boat. The child was wearing his life vest while the adult life jacket remained on the boat. They are still unsure how he was able to get back on the boat without assistance from Rivera. Rescue efforts are continuing today, but it is believed that Rivera has drowned.

This is another sad event tied to "Glee". Star Cory Monteith died tragically in 2013 after a battle with drugs while, Mark Salling committed suicide after being convicted of child pornography charges in 2018.

Rivera starred on "Glee" during its entire 6 year run from 2009-2015. She also appeared on "Devious Maids" and was currently starring on the series "Step Up: High Water".
