Flashback Friday: Power Rangers - 3 Favorite Trini Focused Episodes

Happy Friday! We at The One With All the TV hope you are enjoying a nice long weekend and celebrating the birthday of our country. Each Friday we will have a flashback focused article to ring in the weekend. This week's article will be centered around the popular children's series: Mighty Morphin' Power Rangers.

I was 8 years old when Power Rangers first aired in 1993 and was immediately hooked. I had to watch it every day and buy all the toys. One of the five main original characters was Trini Kwan, played by the late Thuy Trang. Trini was no doubt the heart of the team and does not always get the appreciation she deserves. Here is a look at three classic Trini focused Power Rangers episodes.

  1. High Five

This was the second episode of the entire series of Mighty Morphin' Power Rangers. We find out early on that even Power Rangers can have fears. Trini is scared of heights (which probably isn't good if you are manning a dinozord hundreds of feet off the ground). During a fight with the putty patrol, Billy runs up a rocky mountain to escape them. Trini, being the great friend she is, follows. She is able to save Billy and overcomes her fear. The yellow ranger also defeats Rita's monster Bones and saves the teens from being trapped in another dimension.

2. For Whom the Bell Trolls

This was the 9th episode of the series. It is hobby week at Angel Grove High and Trini decides to show off her creepy doll collection. Isn't it crazy that Ms. Applebee teaches everything from Science to History etc? One of Trini's favorite dolls is called Mr. Ticklesneezer. Rita decides that he will make a perfect monster and steals him from Trini's house. The monster likes to shrink items and keep them in bottles - including Billy and Trini while driving and the Power Rangers' Megazord. In the end, Trini was having a dream - or was she?

3. Plague of the Mantis

Trini is trying to learn mantis Kung Fu from Master Li in this 48th episode of Power Rangers' first season. Even thought she is frustrated, she does not give up. Rita is always watching the teens and sends done a mantis monster to destroy our favorite yellow ranger. Practice really does make perfect, Trini and the rest of the gang are able to destroy yet another of Rita's monsters.
